The music in that house was a strange choice - v hitchcock.

Good shout, Devo. Hadn't considered the timeline.

Whose James Frame when he's at home?

Swiss. 5:33 Tue Jul 28
Re: True Detective 2
The tall slim cop mentioned and involved in all this must be James Frame's character

Re: True Detective 2
No the timeframes all wrong and one was loiusiana and the second series is west coast California hippy culture. Anis flashbacks gave some explanation of her own sexual demons and attitude towards men.

Re: True Detective 2
Devo, don't you think the kiddy-fiddler from the first series could be related to the cult?

Re: True Detective 2
HUUUUUGE James Ellroy rip off! I know they wanted to show Ellroy's influence but they have borrowed half of his story lines!

DukeofDevo 5:07 Tue Jul 28
Re: True Detective 2
Anis flashbacks were to her early life at her dads 'sanctuary' obviously one of the other hippy got a bit too friendly.

Nothing to do with the 1st series.

Obvious who the bad guys are from the start! Ruskis and the developer who wants the hard drive rowing out Vaughn and using the Mexicans as muscle. Hard drive will make interesting viewing, but again nothing to do with 1st season, like Farrells character, now he's embracing the dark side.

This is David Lynch written by James Elroy and is a bit derivative as a result. Entertaining though!

Re: True Detective 2
yeah there's a real Mulholland Drive feel about it

joey5000 1:27 Tue Jul 28
Re: True Detective 2
I thought after last weeks episode that the hard drive they're searching for might contain some materials related to the first season, and after Ani's flashbacks in the latest episode I think there is definitely a link. It was a bloody good scene though and quite hard to watch.

They're really hammering in the Lynch influences - the party scene felt like it was straight out of a Lynch film.

thought last night's episode was excellent. Hope it ramps up now.

The last episode was the best yet - but that's not really saying much.

Maybe they drunk a lot in those 6 years and then got sober?

Re: True Detective 2
I read somewhere that the script for TD1 took nearly 6 years whereas TD2 took 3 months

Re: True Detective 2
Caught up with it last night and it's growing on me... don't think should compare with 1st series as that was in a league of it's own... but so far really enjoyed... have to admit I thought the casting of Vaughn was a joke at first but have to say so far he has won me over... really enjoying it.

Re: True Detective 2
Jacked it in, I loved series 1 but this is just incomprehensible. I couldn't care less what happens to any of the characters either side of the law, to the extent there's any difference.

Re: True Detective 2
Season 2 has been ok but not a patch on Season 1. Episode 5 was an improvement though.

Re: True Detective 2
Enjoying it but in agreement about the muffled and somewhat confusing dialogue. Find myself winding it back and listening again a lot.

Re: True Detective 2
There is a lot of love for the 1st season which I thought was good. Very character driven and a bit weird.

Season 2 is different but every bit as good IMO.

The cast do an excellent job and the story, although meandering is very well written.

...And that shootout !!!! Fuck me...
